Greetings everyone:
I am eager to tell you I am thrilled about the coming weeks. This week we have our first guest speaker, Dan Randall, the Mission Interpreter in Residence for the Northeaster Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. He will be speaking about the call from God to “go and do” and I can’t wait to hear what he has to say. Here locally, we will hear about the opportunity to go on the Adult Mission Trip, get a chance to meet a great children’s book author in Sheryl Stewart, hear the call to join in on what is shaping up to be a great Vacation Bible School, and many more as we worship together on a wonderful July day. Please make time to join the rest of us this Sunday, it is going to be great.
There is plenty happening this summer, but one thing I wanted to bring special attention to is the Video/Slide Workshop this Sunday afternoon from 1pm-4pm. There is quite a bit involved in developing the slide shows that accompany our Sunday morning worship, and with Pastor Tom away we are looking for more hands to help build those displays. We will be looking at how to work in Media Shout (the software for the video system) to both build and operate the slide shows for worship. We will also be talking about the basic elements of design used to build attractive, not distractive, slides and presentations. There is no cost for the workshop, just your time and willingness to learn and perhaps help us in the future. Feel free to just show up, as we will make room for everyone.
When you do attend, please take note of the myriad opportunities in the bulletin. There is a great deal going on, and many new things on the calendar. You don’t want to miss what is happening here at MUMC!
