Last Sunday I introduced a new Advent sermon series called “Waiting on Tiptoe.” During the four Sundays of Advent, this series will be looking at Advent and the birth of Jesus through the eyes of the characters we typically find gathered around the baby Jesus in the nativity many of us have in our homes during the holiday season. Last week, I invited us to look at the birth of Jesus through the eyes of the animals who tradition tells us were present in the stable that first Christmas night. This Sunday, we will turn to some of the other characters who appear in our nativity sets–the shepherds. Please take a look at Luke 2:8-12 before Sunday, and get ready to hear about how a group of hardworking and isolated shepherds had their world turned upside down one lonely night.

TIMELY REMINDERS
MUMC Christmas Fair this Saturday, December 3, at the church from 9:00-2:00
Of course, you are invited to come and do your Christmas shopping at our wonderful fair. But even better, if you able and willing to help out, we still have a a few ways you can do so.
1. We can always use folks to bake cookies and other baked goods for the fair. You can bring by your cookies or baked goods any time during the day on Friday, or by the start of the fair on Saturday (someone will be there by 8:00 a.m.).
2. We are looking for a few folks who can be servers for breakfast and lunch, as well as folks who can work in the kitchen.
3. Last but not least, we need folks to come by the church at 2:15 to help with clean up and with getting the sanctuary set up for worship on Sunday.
Salvation Army Bell Ringers Needed Please sign up to volunteer to ring bells at local supermarkets for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Collection. The sign up sheet is in the foyer. Please note that we have an immediate need for someone to ring the bells at Market Basket in Milford between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. this Saturday. Please call Liane Wright if you are able to help. Her phone number is 672-6851.
Please Join Your Church Family for a Special Advent Event on Sunday, December 11 at 5:00 The event will begin with a potluck supper (don’t forget to bring a dish to share!), followed by Advent Prayer Stations designed for all ages. This promises to be a special time of fellowship, fun, and spiritual preparation for Christmas.
New Members will be received during worship on Sunday, December 11. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Milford United Methodist Church, or if you have questions about church members, the United Methodist Church, or the Christian faith, please feel free to speak with Pastor Tom.
