Jesus Calls His First Disciples

Filed under: Christian, United Methodist — milfordumc @ 5:06 pm
Dear Friends,
I first want to apologize for not having sent out weekly emails for the past few weeks.  Our email service at the church was not working properly, and thus I was not able send anything out.   We are back up and running (thanks, Scott!) so hopefully that means I will be able to get back in the practice of sending out these weekly updates on our life here at Milford UMC.
As we look forward to this weekend, I want to encourage you to prepare for worship by reading Mark 1:14-20. Remember that we are looking at the intentional ways in which Jesus is being presented at the very beginning of his public ministry. We are trying to understand those themes that are introduced right at the beginning and that run throughout the rest of Jesus’ life.  What is he saying about what is most important as he begins to let his Light shine into the world?
I also wanted to mention that we had a very successful launch of our new Broken Bread Cafe this past Saturday night.  It was a great beginning for what I am hoping will become an important part of MUMC’s ministry as we move into the future.  If you would like to know more about this new and different way of worship,  feel free to check out the Broken Bread Cafe blog.   Also, for those of you who do not read the Milford Cabinet, here is an article about Broken Bread from the most recent edition.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!
Still discovering the joy,
Pastor Tom
